Nintendo today (August 1, 2007) unveiled another new character for upcoming Wii brawler Super Smash Brothers Brawl: Ike from the Fire Emblem series. Ike has an apparently gilded sword and boasts a special move called “Aether.” Also announced today was a new item, the pitfall from Animal Crossing (which is actually useful now).
The game itself is a sequel to the excellent Super Smash Brothers (N64) and Super Smash Brothers Melee (Gamecube) fighting games that pit Nintendo franchise characters against one another in wild, anything-goes matches within ever-changing environments. Both prequels have been chaos defined, in the best way possible. Brawl promises to add to the insanity with an expanded roster of fighters (including non-Nintendo characters like Solid Snake), enhanced (often more-interactive) arenas, new items, new control options etc. for its December 2007 release.
The fever pitch over this hotly anticipated game just keeps rising, with Nintendo leaking out little details like this on the Smash Brothers Dojo site every week, wisely keeping the excitement level high. But the announcement everyone really wants to hear is whether Brawl will be online enabled.
