Namco Bandai announces the Balance Board title We Ski

Namco Bandai has just announced that it will be releasing We Ski, a skiing game which offers the option of using the Wii Balance Board rather than the Wiimote and Nunchuk, before the end of spring 2008. The new title will also support up to four player multiplayer events. It looks to be an interesting new sports title with plenty of opportunities to customize personal avatars.
Despite the limits that come with creating a game focused on a single sport, it seems We Ski has quite a bit to offer. There are over 12 different runs ranging in difficulty levels, a school to teach you how to ski, freestyle courses, moguls, slaloms and even the ability to just take pictures. Playing through courses unlocks character options and equipment to individualize characters. The press release also mentions that players can also use their Miis to represent them in game.
We Ski could be a great opportunity for people bored of Wii Fit. It seems like it could be a cute and fun little diversion to pass time, and it may be able to make good use of the new peripheral.

Has this actually been released yet? I’m not somewho who usually gets this sort of thing, but must admit to getting a bit bored with wiifit now. As a skier, just about to go and get some new designer goggles, thought it might be fun (to get in the mood of course) wearing them while practicing on the Wii - I’m sure it makes a heck of a difference! ;-)
