We’ve all had one before. Some of us more than once. The video game dream. A dream conjured up from the depths of pixel-plagued psyches as a result of obsessive immersion. It comes with the territory when you decide you want to play video games.
Sometimes these dreams are just what we need to solve that last puzzle and, on the slip side, sometimes these dreams are what helps developers create that same complex puzzle.
MTV Multiplayer dreamt up the notion of asking a hodge-podge of developers how developing their games had affected their own dreams. The answers they received were quite interesting. Take this excerpt from the producer of Mirror’s Edge, Tom Farrer’s dream:
Wow. If you think Mr. Farrer had a wild dream, wait until you read how the dreams of Peter Molyneux of Lionhead (Fable II), Chris Kramer (not a developer but a public relations manager for Capcom), and Emile Morel, game designer at Eden Games (Alone in the Dark), were affected by the development of their respected titles.
Especially check out Emile’s since, obviously, working on a game like Alone in the Dark can conjure up some really funky dreams. (Ever watch a test run of monsters in your dream? Emile did.) Head over to MTV’s Multiplayer to read the fascinating article and while you’re at it, why not tell us about your own video game related dreams.
Don’t be shy, we promise not to judge.
