More companies sign up to reside in Sony’s (Japanese) Home

PlayStation HOME Japan announces companies who sought licenses for HOMEGreat news for Sony Home addicts like myself. According to an article on Pocket Lint, Sony Japan announced that more companies will be creating content for the Playstation Home.

Companies currently on Home include Capcom, Incognito, Sony Computer Entertainment (of course) and Red Bull who all have either an in-Home world or products for sale in the Home mall.

According to the article, the companies that have already obtained a license and will soon make its presence noticed on Home include:

  • Acquire
  • Activision
  • AQ Interactive
  • Atlus
  • D3 Publisher
  • Disney Interactive
  • EA
  • Game Republic
  • Genki
  • Gungho
  • Hudson
  • Irem
  • Koei
  • Konami
  • Namco Bandai
  • Nippon Ichi
  • Paon
  • Q Entertainment
  • Sega
  • SNK Playmore
  • Spike
  • Tecmo
  • Ubisoft

Burns warned that “the fact these companies have obtained a license doesn’t guarantee we can expect content, but the fact they’ve acquired it at least shows intent.”  Which is true for any company that obtains a license or whether or not if the content will be Japan-only, US-only or released to both the US and Japan. In any case, that likely means more exclusive information for PS3 gamers.

I can’t wait to see what these companies have planned to offer in Home, assuming they’ll do anything at all. One of the companies that has already established a presence on Home includes Red Bull, which offers players a choice of three aircrafts they can fly through an obstacle course for the fastest time record and bragging rights.

EA has an upcoming sports complex in store according to the in-game video news center down in central plaza and at the mall. Their featured game being an interactive hockey game that looks fun to play. As HOME expands, one can only anticipate what new and exciting worlds will be available to users. Mini-games and game-themed store items and all.
