Moylenux went on to talk about copy protection, specifically the massively-publicised limitations Electronic Arts has placed on Spore. While he suggested that the limit of three authorisations per game doesn’t sound “that bad,” he “understand[s] people being very upset” and clarified that he personally “hate[s] any copy protection.”
Since the interview’s publication, the PC Gaming Alliance (PCGA) has responded to Molyneux’s claims, calling him “way off-base with his assessment of the PC gaming industry.” PCGA president Randy Stude goes on to suggest that the industry is in fact “stronger than ever,” with more than 10.7 billion made in revenue last year (2007).
