During last night’s E3 2008 Nintendo Developer Roundtable where games like Animal Crossing, Wii Music and Wii Sports Resort were being presented, a sudden and off-topic question informed all of the return of a familiar title.  During the presentation, an audience member had to have his or her Pikmin fix, and asked if another game would eventually be made.  To the surprise of many, Shigeru Miyamoto, casually confirmed that a new Pikmin game is being made.

No other details on the game were discussed and hints were given as to when we might learn more about the upcoming game, tentatively being referred to as Pikmin 3.  Its also unclear if the game will be for the DS or Wii.  The last Pikmin game, Pikmin 2, was released in for the GameCube in 2004.

Pikmin is a puzzle strategy franchise that utilizes tiny colored creatures called Pikmin. They are pretty dern smart but are also very obedient, knocking down stuff, attacking creatures and otherwise helping you collect cute and silly stuff that help pay off your debt.
