Miss Bimbo adds a controversial twist on internet games

A new online game in Europe is causing quite a stir among parents and the media, the title - Miss Bimbo. The free, online game, which first started in France, is similar to Neopets and a life sim. Players join up, create a bimbo, and then try to beat out all the other bimbos. Based on news updates on the official Miss Bimbo site, it appears that the English language version is fairly new - news reports only date back to March 20, 2008.

The reason for the controversy isn’t because the game’s name is Miss Bimbo, it is because of the various activities players engage in to make their bimbo the best. Players use bimbo dollars to fund a detrimental lifestyle which includes buying “meds”, diet pills, plastic surgery and only high class clothes. If you don’t, you won’t get the hot actors to date your bimbo and make her more popular.

In order to better provide information on the Miss Bimbo, I attempted to register and create my own bimbo. However the site was mobbed. The first two times I managed to get it to load up, none of the images appeared. Another three tries yielded “timed out” pages. Finally on the fifth try I managed to reach the preliminary registration page, where you enter your date of birth. Doing so yielded, you guessed it, another “timed out” page. So I can’t really say if it is as bad as it sounds. Honestly, I have a feeling that some areas might be blown out of proportion just to cause a stir.

@ Andrea - I had a feeling some things were blown out of proportion. It is good to see that the site requires minors to get permission from parents to play.

@ Lindsey - I think the problem is the site is too busy. I tried to register as well, but the site kept timing out due to the high volume of traffic. Try coming back and registering in a day or two once the media hype dies down.

It is hypocritical for people to complain about Bimbo game when many of the most popular video games involve joining para-militant criminal organization with ruthless massacres as the winning goals. The only reason they give a hoot is because for the first time, a video game featuring female as leading character earning ‘street credz’, and targeted at female gamers, become popular! If it is just another GTA clone, people (except Jack Thompson) would have just said ‘boys will be boys’.

It is human nature to think that we can prevent bad things from happening just by denying the existence of evil, but history has shown time and time again such scheme never works. If the game reflects anything, it reflects the adults are whole lot more dangerous, because can actually afford to do extreme makeovers on themselves for real, and have more resources to enforce such messages.
