It’s always great to see video game companies giving back to deserving individuals. A great, recent example is Flying Lab Software and Sony, which have decided to give men and women serving in the US military Pirates of the Burning Sea for free. The servicemen and women will also be able to play the MMO for six months, free. Typically, the MMO costs $19.99 and an additional $14.99 a month to play. Normally, that’d cost $109.93. If there are servicepeople who have already purchased Pirates of the Burning Sea, they can still take advantage of the deal and get six free months of playtime.
There are some restrictions to this deal. First, the military personnel must be on active duty. The promotion doesn’t apply to veterans or those on reserve duty. Second, those interested in taking advantage of the deal must do so before November 30, 2009. That’s when the promotion ends.
It’s very simple to sign up. First, you visit the Pirates of the Burning Sea free military trial page. You provide your military email address. After that, an email will be sent with a six month key. After that, you log into, or create your, Sony Station account at Station.com and download the Station Launcher. Finally, you click the button that says Pirates of the Burning Sea and enter the key you received.
