Majesco’s press release also included a quote from “Mama,” in response to PETA’s game. “Mama’s” official quote was:
Cute.
I have to side with Majesco on this. I mean, I know PETA is all for animals and such, but if they’re going off complaining about Cooking Mama making food with meat, then they obviously haven’t played the game. Cooking Mama World Kitchen has over 50 recipes in it, and Majesco’s statement confirms that around 25 of those recipes are Vegetarian friendly. I know even the DS versions of the game have recipes that have absolutely no meat in them as well.
Plus it is, you know, a game. No “real” animals were killed to make Mama’s recipes. And, if PETA wants to expand into the world of virtual animal protection, they may want to first target gamers who are cruel to/abuse virtual Petz or Nintendogs. Cooking Mama World Kitchen for the Wii came out on November 18, 2008, is rated Everyone and costs $49.99.
