Summer has come to Mabinogi, and that means Nexon has made more stuff is available in game and in the premium shops. There are a few new challenges, new pets and new character cards all available to celebrate the summer season.

The summer style items are only available briefly, so you may want to check those out first. Until July 9, 2008, Summer Character Cards and a Nao Summer Dress will be available for purchase. The Nao Summer Dress is available from the in-game item shop and allows player to buy a new outfit for Nao, that can be given to her if you’re a subscriber who gets to visit her on your character’s birthday. The 9,500 NX ($9.50) Summer Character Card is available in the premium shop and allows players to create or rebirth a character with a special summer outfit. The Summer Character Card also provides 43 different male hair options, 45 female hair options, 24 different eye options and 20 different mouth options.

The other premium shop update involves some new, furry friends. Two new dogs, two new cats and a new fox are all available. There is a Japanese bobtail cat for 2,900 NX ($2.90), a dalmation for 4,000 NX ($4.00), a silver fox for 5,700 NX ($5.70), a light Russian blue cat for 5,800 NX ($5.80) and a golden retriever for 5,900 NX ($5.90). After reading the animal descriptions, I’d say the Japanese bobtail, silver fox and golden retriever sound the most useful.

As for free updates, there have been three new additions. The first is a new Thunder skill, which can be learned from Stewart in the town of Dunbarton. There is also a new boss in the Rundal dungeon, Seiren. The final addition is a new quest, where players will try to help Aeira win Stewart’s heart.
