Mabinogi Generation 2 begins

The official Nexon Mabinogi G2 splash image
This game moves faster than I can keep up. I didn’t even get to finish the Generation 1 story for Mabinogi, and already Generation 2’s begun. Of course I was trying to beat Gen 1 in the span of the two week free trials of Mabinogi services Nexon was offering in April, so it shouldn’t be too shocking. Generation 2: Paladin brings with it new storyline quests, the paladin skills, the city of Emain Macha, new dungeons, new enemies, new weapons and new magic spells. Nexon is also holding four contests to say farewell to Generation 1 and hello to Generation 2.

The two Generation 1 contests are easy to enter and have great prizes. Currently Parody Party and Teaser Pleaser events are being held in honor of G1. To enter the Parody Party contest, write or draw a short story about G1 and share it in the forum thread before June 4, 2008. On June 4, the thread will be closed and the authors of the 10 best stories will each receive a $50 Amazon gift card. To enter Teaser Pleaser, and possibly win a $25 Nexon gift card, post the embedded G1 teaser on your site or blog, then post a link to that in the appropriate forum thread before June 4.

The Generation 2 contests are also pretty cool, but not as nice as the G1 contests. First there is the Mabinogi Scenestealers screen shot competition. Take screen shots of the new G2 content and then submit it to the forum thread in one of the four categories to win in-game items or services, like Beginner Gachapon or Extra Storage Service. The Embed Head contest involves, you guessed it, embedding a Mabinogi trailer into your site or blog, then posting a link to that post in the forum thread to enter to win a Nexon $25 gift card. Like the G1 contests, both of the G2 contests will end on June 4, 2008.

When the Generation of Mabinogi that includes pets and the elf race starts, I’m definitely getting a Nexon card. I’ll rebirth my character as an elf and get one of the services so I can participate in quests. I’m not really hooked on the game (I play once a week), but I truly enjoy playing. Usually I’ll play a free MMO on my PC for about a month, then forget about it (Trickster Online). For some reason I keep coming back to Mabinogi. I definitely recommend it.
