In order to celebrate the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, Nexon has added a new pet to Mabinogi - the panda. Rather than just making the panda pet the only way to commemorate the occasion, Nexon is also holding two panda and Olympic related events in the game from August 7-28, 2008. Both events require players to use the premium cash shop to participate.
The first event requires you to purchase the limited edition panda pet for 7,900 NX/$7.90. After you buy him and see him in game, you’ll see he’ll be carrying a special panda gachapon item. This item contains either panda paws or a panda ear headband for your Mabinogi character to wear.
The second event involves winning a free panda pet card. Every user who buys from the premium shop between August 7-28, 2008 will be entered to win a card. When the Olympics end, Nexon will give away panda cards equal to the number of gold medals the US won during the games. On each server, x number of players who purchased from the premium shop during that time will be randomly picked to receive a panda card. So let’s hope the US wins a lot of medals, so a lot of people get free pets!

how exactly do you get a pet in that game. Do you have to buy them or is there any really random thing like the D&D;Animal Empathy?
on August 8, 2008 at 05:50 PM - LINKYou actually have to purchase a pet in Mabinogi. The cheapest one is $2.90 - a Japanese bobtail cat or orange pixie cat.
The plus side is a friend of mine informed me that they act as a “permanent premium service” (so you can take part in quests) and provide extra storage space.
Also, you can play the game as your pet. So if you’re tired of playing as your character, you can play as your pet character.
I’m torn - I think the mimic and birds (which aren’t available in the US) are adorable, but they aren’t out yet. I’m considering a brown fox or one of the cats.
