Fans of popular Playstation Portable title LocoRoco will soon have the opportunity to maneuver those colorful blobs once again. Sony announced that this title’s sequel, appropriately labeled , LocoRoco 2, will see release on February 10, 2009, just after the holidays and right after the gaming community is recovering from either purchasing, playing, or completing the wide variety of releases distributed over the previous year.
According to the Playstation Blog, this sequel is expected to feature items including “story-driven stages, unlockable quests, and a new twist to the game’s catchy music.” The game is also expected to employ multiplayer features via ad hoc WiFi, allowing more players to enjoy the rather unique LocoRoco experience.
For those unfamiliar with the LocoRoco experience, a free trailer can be seen below. It certainly displays all of the gameplay additions that Sony is hinting at while featuring the zany party-based gameplay that the series is known for.
The game certainly looks like a title that is worth picking up a Playstation Portable, considering that it manages to look original on a system that is known primarily for its ports of console titles. It remains to be seen how the gaming public will react to this title, although it is hoped that no controversy will exist as a result of how certain members of the LocoRoco clan had some negative racial similarities.
Let’s hope that Sony can use the holiday season as a time to make this title look that much more appetizing to the public; here is the trailer below.
