Now we will look what will come beyond this holiday season: “God of War III” for PS3, “Infamous” for PS3, and finally a massive action (online) game from Zipper Interactive “MAG”.
More devs from various companies and more game footage. To summarize the video: They all like PS3 b/c a) it has great graphics b) Sony is nice to them and c) PS2 users are pretty devout to Sony.

The 80GB PS3 is the primary focus for Sony now. The 80GB will be $399.99 in the fall.

And finally, back to PS3—you can capture footage from your game and then send it over to Google/YouTube for viewers to watch your clips and vote on how hot they are. Sony Online Entertainment is now joining the PlayStation team with DC Universe Online.
The PSP has 35 million units world-wide and here are some of the new software highlights: Star Wars Force Unleashed, Madden 09, LocoRoco 2, NBA 09 The Inside, Super Stardust Portable, Lego Batman The Video Game, Patapon 2, Buzz Master Quiz, Valkyria Chronicles, and more.
Next up is the premiere of PSP’s Resistance Retribution coming in Spring 2009.
Next up, PSP—Last year was the PSP slim. There have been 13 million total PSP units sold in North America. Last year’s entertainment packs helped provide growth last year. This fall Sony will not only offer the Madden pack but at Ratchet and Clank pack with National Treasure UMD movie and a 1 GB duo card for $199.
The content and service will be available STARTING TONIGHT!
You can get the content to your PSP via a USB cable, or you can sync via accessing the store on your computer. With your PSP you can watch it on the screen or by using the video-out.
We’re seeing ‘The Bank Job’, ‘Rambo’, ‘Cloverfield’, ‘Crash’, ‘Napoleon Dinomite’, ‘3:10 to Yuma’, ‘The Eye’, ‘The Terminator’, ‘Superbad’, ‘Goastbusters’, and much more. The interface is very smooth, offering meta data such as file size, download speed, streaming preview (full screen too), progressive downloading (you can start watching a minute after you make a purchase), genre category (as well as by studio and title).
The PS Network video delivery service will allow you to download content directly to your PS3. Sony Pictures, MGM, Lion’s Gate, Warner, Disney, Paramount, Turner, Fox Pictures and TV will be offering content in SD and HD. TV shows will be $1.99 and Movies will be available for rental and purchase (rentals from $5.99 and purchase from $9.99). After you download the content on your PS3 you can then move it to your PSP and bring it around with you. You also can watch the content at multiple devices at once.
PlayStation Home—“It is the binding factor for the PSN - games, content, social network, and more together for the PSN.” (To bad we have been waiting forever for it). Video for home—‘meet new friends’, ‘play with others’, ‘living game space’, also Warhawk and RFOM are integrated into Home.
GT5 Prologue offers worldwide programming, in-game, through the PSN. GTTV will be hitting Pay Per View via the PSN. It wil offer footage from racing events throughout the world, a tour of Ferrari’s home ground, reviews of the nest cars ... in SD and HD.
The PSN is about quality not quantity. No one wants to fill up a store with games no one wants to play. Here are some of the great games: Ratchet and Clank, Crash Commando, Fat Princess, Pain Amusement Park, Flower, Siren Blood Cruse, and more.
The PSN has been great for add-on content to Blu-ray as well as original content. Ratchet Clank Future: Request for Booty is a lower cost game with all the action, suspense, mystery, and humor that you expect from the whole game. You can now pick things up with the rench, go through light and dark gameplay, and act as a great intro to the game. It is an exclusive for the PS3 for $14.95.
Next up the PlayStation Network (PSN)—This generation’s digital identity is extremely important to them. Starting this fall no matter where you log in you will have a single PSN network—from your PS3, computer, or other. The PSN will be getting more powerful over the next few months/years. While the PlayStation Store just got a facelift, it will continue to build and improve without any hidden fees. Last month there were 20 million downloads—180 million downloads since launch.
Singstar, Rock Band, and Guitar Hero are some of the key social games and at $129 it is a easy transition into social living room gaming. Singstar has hit over $15 million in sales globally, and 1.9 million songs worldwide. Buzz is also coming to the PSP and PS3, expanding from the PS2. There will also be a new bundle for PS2 with Lego Batman and the animated Justice League DVD for $149.
130 new titles coming to PS2 in 2008, including: NCAA Football 2009, Tiger Woods 2009, Star Wars Force Unleashed, Singstar 2, Yakuza 2, Madden XX and more.
Now we will focus on PS2—
More than 100 million PS and 140 million PS2s worldwide. In 2008 there will be added distribution in Latin America. The best PS3 games will be available at $29.99 COD3, MS, Fight Night, and Need for Speed, Rain Bow 6, Assassin 3, Elder Scrolls, and more.
Here is LBP to present this year’s Sony business update—there is an original level to present this next section of the keynote. In 2008 brought. Innovative Hardware, AAA Titles, and HD displays. June has lead to 1.8 million PS3, 1.6 million PSPs, and 1.5 million PS2 (in it’s 9th year on the market).
“What happens when user-generated-content (UGC)comes into the mainstream gaming world? What better way to experience this UGC besides Little Big Planet (LBP). LBP offer UGC, social networking, and gaming all together.”
“1951 we lost Chicago, former inhabitants roam the streets hungry and no longer human. Aliens hover above the land across cities all around. Resistance 2 breaks new ground with single player, 8 player co-op, 60 player competitive ... the game truly scales.” Here is another clip from the Resistance 2 game trailer, showing a brand new level.
Now focusing on the PS3—2008 will be the year that begins to set things in motion for the decade and beyond. They are demoing Resistance 2 and it looks fantastic.
PS2 consumers get tons of exclusives as well.
“Metal Gear Solid 4 is a REASON why you buy a PS3. Games like this and other exclusives (75 titles total) are why consumers buy the system.”
If we asked consumers what they wanted, they would have never asked for the specs of the PS3 but we brought it anyway. Offering technology that makes certain games (MG4) only possible on the PS3. But if PS3 in 2007 was hardware, 2008 is software and games.
“PS3 bought high-definition to users worldwide. It set a record for Folding@Home via the cell chip.”
Jack is talking about the blockbuster titles that took a year or two (or 3,4,5,6,7) to finally release the major titles on previous systems—clearly setting the stage for a bit of PS3 letdown as well as ideally some surprises, with big titles coming now in year 2.
The original PlayStation was more vivid, more experiential. The PS introduced CD’s to the mainstream market, PS2 intro-ed DVDs, and clearly PS3 has helped the fight for Blu-ray. The original was the first video game system to move over 100 million units.
“As great as 2008 has been [on the PS3], we have just began to scratch the surface. The seed for the PS brand came together 15 years ago this week to green light the original PlayStation.”
Now coming to the stage is Jack Tretton. Apparently the rehearsal took over 12 years yesterday—hopefully things run smoothly today.
They are playing clips of some of the most anticipated games that will be coming out this year, going through publisher by publisher.
X, O, triangle, square are all over this place on over 100 monitors.

On the hardware side, I would like to see a 120GB PS3 for $50 less and a PSP down to $99 as well as a new slew of accessories that are available within this year.
