Sierra Entertainment has just announced the next chapter in the raunchy Leisure Suit Larry series - Leisure Suit Larry Box Office Bust. The new title stars Larry (who else) as he bumbles around Hollywood in a third person adventure due to hit the Xbox 360, PS3, PC, and mobile platforms in fall 2008. Along with the Hollywood plot comes professional voice talent - among the (many) names listed for the cast are Jay Mohr, Shannon Elizabeth, Carmen Electra, Artie Lange, Patrick Warburton (from Family Guy), Jeffrey Tambor, Nikki Cox, Jane Lynch and Peter Graves.
The press release promises a “rollicking, innuendo-laden lampoon of Hollywood that features open world sand box game play that includes exploration, platforming, racing and puzzle-solving to complete missions”, and a director’s game that will allow players to create a “Larry Feature”. I’m assuming that’s a kind of saved film system.
The last game in the series, Magna Cum Laude was a supreme disappointment to gamers weaned on Larry’s wacky PC adventure games. Hopefully developer Team 17 (Worms: Open Warfare 2) can bring it home for this new reinvention.
