You have to give it to Valve - not only do they produce excellent games (ahem, Half-Life, Team Fortress 2, Left 4 Dead), but they actually support their games after release. And somehow, Valve’s gotten around the typical Xbox 360 “paid DLC is the norm” phenomena, as the company is offering the “survival pack” downloadable content (which, according to 1Up, includes two new versus campaigns and the famed “survival mode”) for the sweet, low price of free.
PC and Xbox 360 gamers will both benefit from the free content, which, needless to say, surprised a few folks who were expecting the console version to cost a few bucks. It’s nice to hear good news for once, no?
Bravo, Valve, for not nickle-and-diming your audience and supporting great games with even more content. The survival pack is expected this spring, just the right timing for a certain other zombie adventure to poke up out of the ground (cough, Resident Evil 5). It’s going to be a beautiful, undead-smashing season.
