Been playing some Metal Gear Online lately? Probably not but if you do have an account you might want to log in November 25, 2008, through December 9, 2008, as Konami will be giving all players who log into their Metal Gear Online accounts 10,000 reward points that they can use to spruce up those dusty characters at in the game’s shop.
It’s just one part of Konami’s “Commemorative Campaign” for its online war game, which is a celebration of achieving over one million members. The catch is that the points won’t be awarded until after December 9, 2008.
Part two of the campaign involves a random drawing of 30 players from Japan, Europe, and North America. These lucky winners will receive 100,000 reward points on December 16, 2008. The last part of the campaign is the dual expansion pack of GENE/MEME bundled together. The pack will go on sale sometime during the holiday season and sell for $14.99.
The MEME expansion was recently announced at this year’s Tokyo Game Show and will include three new maps: Silo Sunset, Forest Firefight, and Winter Warehouse, as well as Liquid Ocelot and Mei Ling as playable characters.
The GENE expansion is already available and includes the maps: Virtuous Vista, Town of Tubes, and Coppertown Conflict, Meryl Silverburgh and Johnny “Akiba” as playable characters and the Survival mode. The GENE expansion added an extra character slot as well.
I can’t help but wonder how many people still play MGO though. There is a big possibility a lot of these members are just people who signed up because it was free and never came back. Regardless, I guess free points are free points and I’ll be dusting off my Konami ID later this month. I hope I remember it.
