Klassic kombat koming back to PS2 as Mortal Kombat: Kollection

Mortal Kombat

As we warm up to the release of Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe, Midway Games wants to rekindle our love for its brutal one-on-one fighting games. Mortal Kombat: Kollection has been announced (July 25, 2008) for the PS2. The collection will include three games from the Mortal Kombat universe including Mortal Kombat: Deception, Mortal Kombat: Armageddon, and Shaolin Monks for $29.99. It will appear on store shelves in September.

In case you may have missed out on the games, Mortal Kombat: Deception and Armageddon played out just as one would suspect. You pick a character, beat the snot out of your opponent, then kill them in the most gruesome way possible. Armageddon switched things up a bit because the game included every single character to ever be seen in any Mortal Kombat game. It was also the first time MK implemented a create-a-character and fatality creation mode. Konquest mode made a return as well. Konquest first played out in Deception as an action RPG where the life story of Shujinko was followed.

Shaolin Monks was a co-op experience with Liu Kang and Kung Lao. Together the two went back and forth through Outworld battling memorable MK characters ultimately ending in a fight against Shao Kahn. It was one of those games that may not have been the best experience if played alone, but I can say from experience playing with a friend made everything worth it.
