Judge to rule on Jack Thompson hearing in 2008

by Lucy Newman on Dec 7, 2007 at 12:30 AM

Jack Thompson tries to file another motionSince it was originally announced, there hasn’t been much to report about Jack Thompson’s upcoming trial with the Florida Bar.

Sure GamePolitics did poll its readers about the case, but other than that, the web has been pretty silent. Unfortunately, the silence may last a little longer/

Yesterday (December 5, 2007), Judge Dava Tunis announced that the time she needed to process, prepare and review court records in this case will most likely delay her decision until spring of 2008.

Thompson has tried to stop the hearing by filing a new motion to vacate the case made against him by the Florida Bar for violating Alabama and Florida Bar rules. He goes on to quote selections of the rule for Federal District Court Judge Adalberto Jordan, accused the bar’s prosecutor Sheila Tuma of lying about using the new rules to continue prosecuting him.

“There you have it, Judge Jordan. The new version of Rule 3-4.6 had to be passed and made effective on January 1, 2006, in order to create (not codify an existing process or means) for meaningful discipline of a lawyer both in the host state and, more importantly, in the home state ... you can not be serious about your oath as a federal judge and allow, now, this patent and proven fraud by which The Bar secured its abstention order to stand. This court must now vacate that order. The Florida Supreme Court has its proven its “official arm,” The Bar, to be a liar. Ms. Shiela Tuma and Mr. Barry Richard knowingly raised that official arm, with middle finger extended, to flip off this court, Thompson, and the Florida Supreme Court itself.”

For Thompson, who is trying to vacate the case, to add an insult to a judge who has had to bear his past lectures and ramblings of Thompson’s law, it was no surprise when the judge denied the motion. For now we wait until next year to hear the results of the case.
