Japanese Rep suggests Konami “looking into” Metal Gear Solid 4 for Xbox 360

As one of the Playstation 3’s defining exclusive titles, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots has long been the subject of multiplatform rumors that its creator, Konami’s Hideo Kojima, has consistently sought to deny by pointing to the game’s reliance on the PS3’s hardware and the Blu-ray disc format. And yet, the rumors continue.
Speaking with Japanese stock investment research firm Morningstar, a Konami public relations representative named Yoshitaka Arai has reportedly confirmed that the company is “looking into” an Xbox 360 port of the game due to extensive consumer demand.
The article in question can be found on Morningstar’s official website, but because it is written in Japanese, we are left to rely on translations by Kotaku and IGN. The former, who references Yahoo! as their source, quotes Arai as having said:
The worldwide demand for an Xbox 360 version (of MGS4) is quite high, and it is something we are currently looking in to.
IGN, on the other hand, sources Morningstar directly and translates Arai’s comment as saying that Konami is “actively looking into a release for the Xbox 360.” IGN also goes on to confirm that Konami’s U.S. division has yet to comment on the remark in regards to its validity.
