If we thought the recession was bad on normal people, imagine how bad it must be for ninjas! Izuna is still unemployed and will be starring in Izuna 2: The Unemployed Ninja Returns for the Nintendo DS. I guess that Rondo of Swords cameo for her and Shino didn’t pay off. Like the Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games and Shiren, the Izuna titles are challenging rogue-like rpgs. Izuna will be looking for work in a video game store near you starting July 22, 2008.

So the story this time is Izuna and her ninja crew attend a wedding for the free food. Once they arrive, Shino disappears in search of her sister and some new gods get mad at Izuna. So Izuna has to find Shino, find Shino’s sister and deal with some mad, visiting gods. Izuna 2 is going to feature more dungeons, tag team dungeon runs and more side quests.

I still haven’t even finished the first one! Seriously, the first Izuna title was awesome. It was funny, extremely challenging and somehow managed to suck you in. I’d play out of spite. I’d get so mad whenever dungeon dwellers killed Izuna that I would keep playing until I beat that dungeon and made them pay. This sequel looks much better than the original, especially the ability to have another person in your party when you tackle dungeons. I’ll probably play the original for a week before Izuna 2 comes out, then ditch it for the shiny new version.

I wish Atlus would give me some time to breathe - here it’s releasing Rondo of Swords, Izuna 2, Drone Tactics and Etrian Odyssey 2 all at the same time. Come on now, let’s save something for Q4.
