Ion reveals Drum Rocker premium Rock Band drum set

ion drum rocker set kitSince the first Guitar Hero was released back in 2005, we’ve all had to clear out some room in our closets to store our beloved plastic instruments. As time went on, the number of music peripherals has doubled. Wired guitars, wireless guitars, microphones and now drum sets, the demand for a single set of universal instruments is higher than ever. Unfortunately it doesn’t seem like that’s going to happen anytime soon.

The drum kit that will ship with Guitar Hero: World Tour will more than likely not be compatible with the Rock Band brand of drums. Ion, however, has come to the rescue by introducing a new high-end drum controller set exclusively for the Rock Band series.

Dubbed the Drum Rocker, this deluxe piece of equipment is what truly separates the casual Rock Band players from the hardcore, smoke machine enabling fanatics. This accessory ain’t cheap at a whopping $299. Ion is now accepting pre-orders for the Xbox 360 version but PS3 and Wii owners will have to wait a little longer before the Drum Rocker becomes available for their consoles.

For a price this hefty there has to be something really special about these drums. For starters the kit can be arranged in any way you see fit. The snare, cymbals and tom drum pads can be swapped around to appeal to your specific level of comfort. The drums are also very quiet and touch sensitive. It can tell when you’re wailing away or softly building up to a big finish. The bass pedal is completely made of metal to help make it more sturdy and there’s even an option to includ a second bass pedal. Lastly, the Drum Rocker can be turned into an actual electronic drum machine, if you opt to pay for the professional drum brains that is.

This drum kit is no doubt for the die hard rocker at heart. Taking into consideration all the extra features such as the drum brain add on, the $299 price tag is pretty justified.
