Id itching to hire Doom 4 development team

by Andrew Webster on May 7, 2008 at 10:06 PM

Doom 3id Software has announced that it is looking for people to join its internal development team for the upcoming horror first-person shooter, Doom 4.

No information was given about the game, such as new features, story, or even what platform(s) it will end up on.  All we know right now is that it’s being - or going to be - made.  Here’s the not-so-surprising call for talent and informationless boasting by Todd Hollenshead, id’s CEO, from the company’s press release:

Doom is part of the id Software DNA and demands the greatest talent and brightest minds in the industry to bring the next installment of our flagship franchise to Earth. It’s critical for id Software to have the best creative minds in-house to develop games that meet the standards synonymous with our titles.”

Previous entires in the series, including 2004’s Doom 3, were developed specifically for the PC but with the sate of the PC gaming market, and other developers jumping ship to consoles, it doesn’t seem too far-fetched to believe that Doom 4 could end up on an Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 near you.
