Guinness World Records releases first gaming edition

Guinness gaming edition
The Boston Herald online recently published a tease of the upcoming gamer’s edition of Guinness World Records, due out in March. The book will be the very first all-gaming edition, and will launch on March 11, 2008.

Among the morsels mentioned in the article was the heated competition between Steve Wiebe and Billy Mitchell for the top Donkey Kong score (the drama that was so perfectly examined in the recent film The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters), along with some of the more impressive sales records (the original NES Super Mario Bros. and Halo 3 are in that category).
Also fun were the nods to gaming culture:

— The controversial crime-adventure series “Grand Theft Auto” has the most guest stars in a video game series. Its 339 voice actors include Dennis Hopper, Samuel L. Jackson, Ray Liotta and Ice T.

— The largest virtual beer festival takes place once a year in “World of Warcraft.” The online game’s two warring factions share a truce along with the brews.

I can’t wait to check this one out, though it’ll no doubt spark some controversy in the pro-gaming world.
