God of War: Chains of Olympus for the PSP - a handheld adaptation of one of the most popular PS2 games ever made - is all set to enthrall gamers next year. Ready at Dawn has announced March 4, 2008, as the release date although the retail price was not announced.
Also, the game still hasn’t been rated, but the abundance of in-game violence stands to earn it a Mature (M) rating.
Chains of Olympus is a prequel to the first God of War game for the PS2, and features the fierce Kratos as the central character. The game not only has a fresh storyline but boasts of newer locations as well, which were not present in its previous PS2 versions.
A special edition demo disc with a playable level and bonus content will be available in September 2007 to those who signed up for it, though an exact date for it is not known. Another normal demo disc, sans any bonus content, will also become available late 2007.
God of War has won over millions of PS2 gamers with its engaging gameplay, but it still needs to be seen whether it can emulate that success on the PSP. The PSP needs a few more stellar titles like GOW to make-up for the dismal lack of titles on the handheld.
