After the Activision-Blizzard merger, Atari bought up the license to the Ghostbusters: The Video Game which, at the time, had fans drooling at the mouth with how good it looked. Then we were severely disappointed when Vivendi, now owned by Activision, announced it would not be carrying the title into the merger.
The reason was that Ghostbusters was not a franchise the publisher felt it could continue in the long-term. But Spyro the Dragon was. (!?)
Regardless, it’s good to see the game is going to get released, especially since so much work is being put into it. The original gang of Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, and Ernie Hudson are all participating fully on the project and the storyline (set two years after Ghostbusters 2) is even being written by Aykroyd and Ramis, the same two guys who wrote the two Ghostbusters films.
The game is currently scheduled to be released on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, DS and PC.
