Get ready for Rapture on Mac

BioShock for Mac
Giddyup, Mac gamers. It’s about time 2007’s wildest ride (and best game, according to most of the enthusiast gaming press) is coming to the platform. 1Up has just confirmed the announcement of BioShock for Mac. No details on the system secs or release date yet, and from the post, I’m expecting nothing above a straight port, but as a Mac user and hardcore gamer, I’ve got a mind to celebrate.

Why, exactly? Well, because it’s a sign that Mac gaming (for the hardcore) is beginning to look less like a bad joke. From the post: “If nothing else however, Feral Interactive’s big announcement is a sign of hope for hardcore Apple gamers constantly fighting the good fight for legitimacy everywhere…Feral Interactive and EA’s insistence to bring BioShock to all possible platforms speaks volumes of how important and well-made this title truly is - even if the promise of extreme profit is nil, the publishers had enough faith in their product and the populace to give it the ol’ college try.  And they deserve major, major props for that.”

Yes they do. I’m actually playing through this beauty again right now, and I’d love to see it sell well for the Mac. Maybe one day the platform will even see big name exclusives? Hey, a girl can dream.
