The full version of Mabinogi will launch on March 27, 2008. It is then that the first chapter of the game, titled “Generation 1: The Advent of Morrigan” will begin and players will be able to buy an upgrade package which will let them play along with the “Advent of Morrigan” storyline. The commercial release means not only a storyline, but also a cash shop and new skills.

The press release basically announced three changes to the Mabinogi world which come with the commercial release. The first is that new skills will be available. New books skills are mentioned, as is the fishing skill many have been looking forward to. The second is the start of the actual storyline. The third is the opening of the cash shop, where players can choose one of three monthly services in order to become part of the storyline or buy upgrades, character cards and items.

I am disappointed to hear one thing in the press release. The way it is worded, it sounds like all character cards, which allow players to rebirth characters in order to gain more AP points to build skills, will cost real money. Originally I thought (well -  hoped) that the basic character cards would be free or able to be purchased in-game and only premium character cards would cost Nexon cash.
