Gears of War book trilogy coming
Gears fans, did you play the game for its story? Probably not but that isn’t stopping Epic games and Del Ray publishing from releasing three novels based on the games. The first one out the gate is Gears of War: The Battle of Aspho Fields, by Karen Traviss. It’ll be released on October 28, 2008 - just in time for the second game, which hits November 7, 2008.
GameDaily has the scoop, as well as a few quotes from Del Rey editor Keith Clayton. From the post:
“The Gears of War books should remain true to the spirit of the game. I’m happy to announce that the marriage of Karen Traviss and chainsaw bayonets is a match made in heaven-or hell, if you happen to be a Locust drone.”
Well, Halo has a series of novels, so I suppose it’s only fitting that the Xbox’s other major action/shooter franchise gets the serial treatment as well. Are you going to pick this up in the Gears 2 frenzy this fall?
