Gears of War 2 finally friggin’ confirmed

by Christopher Buckner on Feb 21, 2008 at 03:36 PM

gears of war 2After much speculation, rumors and even a debunked article from Gamepro Magazine, it has finally been confirmed by Microsoft at the Game Developers Conference 2008, which is currently being held in San Francisco, that Gears of War 2 is defiantly in the works.

Better yet, fans of 2006 game of the year won’t have to wait too long as Microsoft stated that Gears of War 2 would be released November 2008.

At the press conference held by Microsoft, a trailer was shown of the Gears of War sequel. Unfortunately it didn’t reveal any thing related to the game play, but did show a very stylish, cinematic battle between Gear’s staring character, Marcus Fenix, and a Locust soldier.

The presentation ended with Epic’s lead designe, Clifford Bleszinski (aka “Cliffy B”), chainsawing his way through the crowd and onto the stage, where he made the announcement of Gear’s release date and also confirming that it will remain an Xbox 360 exclusive title.

If this news isn’t enough for you Gears of War fans, Microsoft has also released news that they will be releasing a Limited Edition version of the game as well as the regular standard edition. No price has been reviled just yet for the special edition.

Below are the box arts for both the Limited Edition and Standard Edition copies of Gears of War 2:
