There’s a reason people anticipate PopCap games, because they know that the casual games produced by the company are among the best and most original creations available. They’re also incredibly addicting and well executed.

PopCap’s most recent release is Bookworm Adventures Volume 2, a word puzzle game with RPG elements that is the sequel to the very popular Bookworm Adventures. Like its predecessor, it provides a flawless casual game experience.

Bookworm Adventures Volume 2

Literary figures are escaping from their books!

Lex the bookworm was preparing for an ordinary day. Get a little exercise, have some breakfast, then go to the Great Library for some reading. The problem is, things aren’t right at the Great Library. Lex sees that the characters from books found some way to escape! Mother Goose is being chased.

Lex dives into the books to find out how these characters are getting loose, and do something to keep them where they belong.

Bookworm Adventures Volume 2

Use your brain to keep fiction in check.

Bookworm Adventures Volume 2‘s gameplay is pretty similar to the original Bookworm Adventures. A good thing, since the original premise was pretty much perfect. Lex battles against literary figures by spelling out words to attack. There’s a 4 x 4 grid of letter tiles players can pick from to form words. The longer the word, the more damage you cause to your foe. You have as much time as you need to form a work to attack with, so there’s very little pressure on the player.

Once again, enemies have special attacks they can use. But no need to worry, because once again Lex has potions to recover or boost his abilities, artifacts and accessories to make him stronger and unleash special attacks by using gem letter tiles in the words spelled.

The new twist this time around is that some of the storybook characters will join Lex on his adventures, aiding him by healing, attacking or providing other positive reinforcement.

The game also again features lots of replay value, adorable comic clips, witty dialogue and adorable character art. The only downside is that you only are able to authorize/install the game on three computers.

Bookworm Adventures Volume 2

Bookworm Adventures Volume 2 once again proves PopCap is the king of casual games.

Like pretty much every PopCap game, Bookworm Adventures Volume 2 is destined for greatness. It is one of those games where the gameplay, storyline and characters guarantee it will be an instant classic. Plus, it’s not only fun, it’s even educational! People who enjoy word games, loved Puzzle Quest, or just plain enjoy casual games should, at the very least, take a look at the free trial. Chances are, they’ll get hooked.
