Game On: Walmart unveils used game sales program

by Brian Allen on Sep 18, 2009 at 11:34 AM

walmart logoRetail giant Walmart is staking its claim on the billions of dollars to be made through used game sales, as it now lists preowned games on its site.

Used game sales and the game trade-ins that fuel those sales are a huge component of GameStop’s profits and other major retailers have taken notice.

Toys R’ Us has announced a trade-in program that takes games from all the way back to the Intellivision era. In contrast, GameStop only allows trade-ins of current generation games. Best Buy has started experimenting with selling new games at the same price point GameStop charges for used games.
