Gaia Online‘s flash, browser MMO zOMG! has just entered the closed beta period today (July 28, 2008), and over 10,000 of the 120,000 people who applied have been allowed in. Gaia Online began work on zOMG! in 2006, and in April, 2008, applications for the closed beta were accepted.
zOMG! looks to be your standard MMO, with extra social and casual elements added into it. Users can battle monsters and level grind to create amazing avatars, interact with other zOMG! users and play mini-games.
I hate to say this, since I always avoided Gaia Online, but I can’t get over how cute zOMG! looks. It reminds me a bit of Trickster Online in terms of avatar design and play, but seems more appealing since I don’t have to worry about updating my client or downloading stuff. This might be an MMO worth watching - even if it does have a ridiculous name.
