Former LucasArts president trying his hand at politics

The video game industry could gain a powerful Washington ally in Arizona’s 2010 Congressional election.
Former LucasArts head Jim Ward, who resigned from the company in 2008, wants to be the next US representative from Arizona’s 5th Congressional District. The district includes Scottsdale, Tempe and parts of Phoenix. He’s running as a Republican against two-term Democrat Harry Mitchell. Ward is using his business experience at LucasArts as a key campaign component.
“It’s time politicians who just want to be politicians got out of the way and let people who have run businesses, created jobs and made decisions they’ve had to live with, go to Washington and straighten out this mess,” Ward said on his election site.
On his site, Ward also mentions his role in handling the Indiana Jones and Star Wars franchise. These days Ward is a venture capitalist.
If he gets elected, will gamers hold his feet to the fire regarding game legislation?
