Former 1UP employees back in action
Some of the guys who were let go after 1UP was bought by UGO have banded together on Talking Orange in an effort to continue delivering gaming content.
Some of the guys there are those responsible for putting on the 1UP Show and participated in podcasts on the 1UP Network. They are determined to give back to the gaming community regardless of the tough times they have fallen on. They are accepting donations that will help provide equipment and other expenses but they are by no means begging for cash. They will note how much they receive in donations and what it’s being spent on. Any support given to them will be greatly appreciated of course, but they are determined survive no matter what happens.
For now the team will produce free gaming content and podcasts via free sites (including YouTube) until they can create a subscription-based service. They are thinking about charging for HD content while leaving the SD content free for anyone who wants it.
These are just a few ideas the team is throwing around for now. Next Friday (January 16, 2008) the team would have settled on a name and website and the first episode will hit the web.
