Virtual Fighter 5 on the Xbox 360 is about to get a bit more individual. Sega has released a downloadable content pack for the game that can be purchased for 300 points on Xbox Live (roughly $3.75 in real-world money). The packs are designed to help make the characters stand out more, with lots of additional items that can be added to customize characters. Some of the items mentioned are extra hairstyles and lightplates. The packs are immediately available on Xbox Live.

Virtua Fighter 5 is the latest entry on the series released on the Xbox 360. It features vibration support, analog and d-pad control, an improved Quest Mode, added Dojo Mode features, and lots of character customization options. An important change to note is that the Dojo Mode lets the player change the opponent’s strategy, like their position and recovery type, and helps train the player to escape throws.

I wonder if any people actually pay to download the additional content for a fighting game, when it is just extra character design items. It seems like a waste of points that could be spent on an additional game. While the content packs make characters more individual, it isn’t as though it is an extra opponent, or something that could add real replay power to the game.
