First images of Jake Gyllenhaal as Prince of Persia

by Mark Rollins on Aug 12, 2008 at 07:49 PM

gamertell Jake Gyllenhaal as the prince of persiaYou may recall the third part of our Prince of Persia series, where we discussed the up-and-coming movie.  Well, it appears pop gossip site JustJared has posted pictures of Jake Gyllenhaal as the Prince.

It looks like Gyllenhaal is on his way to the first take, as he is more shirtless than Matthew McConaughey on a normal day.  It would appear that Jake has gotten into great shape for the role, so this would be a good time to lay off (or on?) the Brokeback Mountain jokes.

The movie is due out Summer 2009 and is being produced by Jerry Bruckheimer. Considering he was the one that adapted a now-lame ride at Disneyland into a very cool adventure movie franchise, I suppose the same could happen to the Prince of Persia

We’ll have to wait to see how good or bad this will be. Videogame movies don’t have a good track record but neither did park ride movies until the Pirates of the Caribbean came around.  So with Gyllenhaal and Bruckheimer involved, the Prince of Persia flick has scored two bonus points before even hitting screens.

And now for something completely different, I would like to show you a video game movie that will - we hope - never appear on the big screen.  Prepare yourself for Pac-man!
