Find your way to Best Buy for Fallout 3

by Jenni Lada on Oct 24, 2008 at 02:37 PM

Fallout 3 Xbox360Certain Best Buy stores across the United States are going to be holding midnight launch parties for the PC/PS3/Xbox 360 game Fallout 3 on October 27, 2008. Only a few select locations in certain states will be participating in this event though, and the Rockville, Maryland store would really be the one to visit. The development team behind Fallout 3 will be at that Best Buy, to talk to fans, autograph things, talk with DC 101 FM and help with the contests and giveaways.

The 12 stores which will actually be open at midnight on October 28, 2008 to sell and celebrate Fallout 3‘s release are as follows:

  • Rockville, MD - 1200 Rockville Pike
  • Tysons Corner, VA – 8449 Leesburg Pike
  • New York, NY – 44th And 5th
  • Westbury, NY – 1100 Old Country Rd.
  • Glendale, CA – 2909 Los Feliz Blvd.
  • Pasadena, CA – 3415 E. Foothill Blvd.
  • Chicago, IL. – 1000 W. North Ave.
  • Downers Grove, IL – 1432 Butterfield Rd
  • Plano, TX – 2800 N. Central Expy.
  • Fort Worth, TX – 6750 West Fwy.
  • Roseville, MN – 1643 Country Rd. B2
  • Richfield, MN – 1000 W. 78th St.

According to the press release, the lines for the events at each store are going to start on October 27, 2008 at 3pm in each area. Seems a bit early to begin waiting for a game, but whatever. I guess I’m not really one to talk - I remember getting to a Borders at 6pm for the midnight release of Harry Potter and the Half-Blooded Prince.

Here’s a tip: If you don’t want to wait in line at game stores for Fallout 3 and you don’t care about the hype and spectacle, go to 7 Eleven. 7 Eleven stores are typically open very late, and they have started to sell games. Fallout 3 is one of the games they are reportedly going to sell at launch. My company currently sells our games at 7 Eleven, and one of my coworkers told me that they’re also selling other games. The bit about Fallout is a rumour right now, as I haven’t made it to 7 Eleven to confirm with staff there, but maybe you or one of your writers could check it out for yourselves. :-)
