British Private Richard Hunt was killed last week in Afghanistan when an explosive device struck his company. Hundreds of people including his friends, family and British Army colleagues joined a tribute to Hunt on August 23, 2009, which would have been the soldier’s 22th birthday.

By his parents’ request, no one wore black because this was a celebration of Hunt’s life. Hazel and Phillip Hunt placed a wreath with the birthday cards. Hunt’s father, Phillip also added a copy of the video game Call of Duty:World at War. with handwritten note attached that read:

Happy Birthday ‘Hunty’. Play you again one day. Dad.
