The family of a former marine who went missing on February 3, 2008, fears that the war game Call of Duty might be to blame for his disappearance. According to an article published in Tampa Bay Online, the Marine in question, Eric Hall, had been staying at a relative’s house in Florida when he went missing.

The Marine disappeared after he finished playing the game Call of Duty. He told his cousin, with whom he was staying, that he had to leave. Hall left on his bike and remains untraceable, though the Charlotte County Police were able to find his bike.

His family believes that Call of Duty might have brought back sore memories of war to Eric’s mind, as the game very realistically reproduces war action. Eric had haunting memories of war as he had been severely injured in Iraq by a bomb in 2005. He suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder, which might have been exasperated by the authentic scenes of battle depicted in Call of Duty, according to his family.
