Bethesda has been teasing us long enough and are now finally ready to unleash us into the post-apocalyptic “Pitt.” Bethesda announced earlier this month (March 5, 2009) a trip to the “steel city” or Pittsburgh, PA (USA), to you foreign readers, on March 24, 2009 for 800 Microsoft points. The Games for Windows (or PC) version will also be released at the same time with still no announcements about any PlayStation 3 content. Sorry PS3 owners.
In an interview with MTV Multiplayer, Bethesda’s own Pete Hines gave the world a heads up on what’s going down in post-apocalyptia. For starters, the expansion will not be as action focused as the first expansion, Operation: Anchorage, was. It’s measured to be about 5 to 6 hours in length depending on whether you decide to make choices like a delegate or answer with your weapon.
The story going down in “The Pitt” is that a Raider has found a cure for mutation and you’re recruited by an escaped slave named, Werhner, to find it and take it. One of the missions even includes you becoming a slave so you’ll most likely be helping or harming other slaves as well, depending on how you have influenced your karma.
Achievement junkies will find four more to unlock in the expansion along with three more perks that includes raising “killing efficiency”, one for radiation, and the last one is a prize for winning a “pitt fight”. If you’re like me, you’re imagining a “pitt fight” as something you’ll find in oh… the Thunderdome!
Since this won’t be a simulation like the previous expansion, you’ll actually be able to keep what gear you acquire, this includes the new Raider armor and the gruesome looking Auto-Axe. I bet you can’t wait to return to downtown Washington DC and start slicing open those blasted Super Mutants with your shiny new gear. You’ll be the envy of the Wasteland for sure.
