eCost’s crazy (and confusing) one-day deals, plus some

Online electronics store eCost is offering several today-only (Monday, December 7, 2009) sales on game systems and electronics.
The trick with these sales is that you need to purchase the site’s Platinum Premium membership, which costs $39.95, and the deals are randomly offered throughout a small time chunk. If you plan to buy a lot from the site the Platinum Premium club can be worth it since it saves you the $10+ shipping cost on each order.
Today’s deals include:
- Xbox 360 Pro system for $69 (only 2 between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. PST)
- 160 GB PlayStation 3 for $79 (only 1 posted randomly between 3 and 6 p.m. PST)
- 8 GB 3rd Gen iPhone 3G for $99 (only 2 posted between 3 and 6 p.m. PST)
There’s also a $9 digital camcorder, $19 Gamrin GPS and an $89 HP netbook.
The site also has a few other game-related deals including:
- White Xbox 360 wireless controller for $24.99
- 120 GB Xbox 360 Elite for $217.99
- 60 GB Xbox 360 Pro for $185.99
- Games discounted $5 to $10 each.
Keep up with the latest gaming goodness! -

I so want to believe you can get something for nothing, but I found this feedback on eCost that is not very flattering:

Buyer beware…
on December 7, 2009 at 06:11 PM - LINKeCost used to offer “free” items - items you paid for, a mail-in rebate to make the purchase $0.00 and shipping was free if you spent a certain amt. (used to be $25) - but it’s since done away with the free shipping except for Premium Platinum members (boo!).
I’ve only bought smaller items from the site (cables, USB adapters, external drive cases, etc.) and have not had an issue with any of them so far. I did just get a very cheap digital camcorder from them but it’s an of brand so I don’t expect much from it. We’ll see how that turns out.
