EA Sports releases fixed version of Fight Night Round 4 Champions Pack

Important Importables
Jenni Lada brings us information about all of the groovy new gaming imports from around the world.

Both the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live have received some big updates for boxing simulation Fight Night Round 4 in a new “Champions Pack.”
It adds Evander Holyfield, Sonny Liston and Bernard Hopkins as playable boxers and there are two new game modes: Old School Rules and Ring Rivalries. The content went live December 2009 but the Xbox 360 Champions Pack began freezing consoles immediately. EA Sports then pulled the pack until those issues were fixed.
If you downloaded the broken content, your Xbox Live account retains your purchase data and you won’t need to pay for it again.
Old School Rules delivers what EA Sports calls “a new take” on the traditional boxing, simulating things as they were before the Marquis of Queensbury rule set commonly used today. Ring Rivalries will allow players to create some of the sport’s biggest matchups. If they add an “ear bite” minigame for the Tyson-Holyfield rivalry, I am so buying it.
The DLC pack retails for 800 Microsoft Points on Xbox Live or $9.99 on the PlayStation Network. There is also some free material including new ring gear for your pugilists.
To celebrate and get feedback on the new content, EA Sports will host an Xbox Live Community Playdate January 27th from 3PM-8PM Pacific Time. You will get the opportunity to knock out, or get knocked out by, Fight Night Round 4 producers. Despite many efforts to horn in on the boxing game market, including one backed by Don King himself, the Fight Night series has been the go-to sim for the “sweet science.”
