EA offers Aussies refunds for missing mode in Metal of Honor

by Pulkit Chandna on Feb 11, 2008 at 10:59 PM

Medal of Honor: Heroes 2Electronic Arts has not only admitted its baffling blunder but also agreed to fully refund Australian gamers who innocently purchased the game Medal of Honor: Heroes 2 for the Wii only to realize that it didn’t have an online mode as promised in the game’s advertisements. The game was released this past Thursday (February 7, 2007) in Australia.

Many Aussie gamers bought the game believing that it had a 32-player online mode as promised in advertisements and the game’s manual. Apparently the game’s online mode is its unique selling point, so that was enough for gamers to vent their ire on EA.

After realizing its the gross indignation of the Australian gamers, EA decided to offer a full refund to anyone who bought the game and wants to return it. EA termed it as an “error in documentation and marketing material.” I believe that something like this is unacceptable, whether in Australia or Azerbaijan.  Even their excuse is not plausible enough and rather preposterous.

For the sake of The Mighty Gamer God, how can a publishing behemoth like EA make a mistake as elementary as this and then nonchalantly brush it aside as an error?
