E3 is not dead. Long live E3!

by Danielle Riendeau on Jul 23, 2008 at 12:57 PM

E3 2008 logoThere’s been no shortage of doomsayers predicting that this year’s E3 was the end of the road for the once-mighty expo. Not so, according to a post at Gamespot. The show will go on, at least for another year.

From the post:

“Regardless, there are plans for at least one more E3. A representative with the event’s organizers at the Electronic Software Association affirmed that much for GameSpot today, but gave little indication as to how next year’s show will differ.“

So, I know everyone thought this E3 was disappointing and all, but I tend to think it’s just a sign of a more mature industry. Companies make announcements all year round now, it’s just unrealistic to expect one show to hold all the year’s surprises. Either way, E3 has lived to die another day.

Can we just say, E3 is on life support until they turn it back into what it used to be…60,000 fans, journalists, developers, creators, and company men (and women) all under one roof trying blow our mind with even the smallest preview of exciting games we’ve all come to know and love!!!!  Is that so hard to ask for?
