E3 2009: Sony’s PS3 motion controller

In a three-way battle for wireless, motion-controlled gaming, Sony threw its prototype in the ring at its E3 2009 press conference (June 2, 2009),
The controller’s prototype looked like a wand with a glowing ball on the end that works in conjunction with Sony’s latest game system camera, the PlayStation Eye. In the demo, the presenters were presented as-is within a game-like environment with various handheld objects - ginormous sword, baseball bat and an archer’s bow - superimposed in their or their avatar’s hand where the controller is located.
Admitting that there is still a need for buttons, the controller will include a few although exactly how many was not indicated (an analog trigger was mentioned). In the demo the presenter also used two controllers together to pick up small virtual/in-game objects and pull back the string on an in-game bow. The controller was described as having one-to-one “sub-millimeter accuracy” for tracking movements from the controller to the game.
The PS3 motion controller will launch Spring 2010. Pricing and the exact name has not yet been announced but we’ll certainly let you know when we know. (Let the name speculations begin.)

I think this kills the Wii (controller to controller), but I am torn how it fairs with Xbox Project Natal. There is certainty something about holding an actual device that make it feel realistic, but there is also something about just using your body to play a game.
I wonder if the eye can support 4 of these (2 per person)
