DSvision gets blurry
Diligent readers may remember that back in December Gamertell discussed the DSVision, an official slot-1 adapter from Nintendo, Dai Nippon and AM3. The new hardware would allow DS owners to download music, videos and other forms of media through a service set up by Dai Nippon and AM3. It should have been available March 8, 2008, but now multiple sources are reporting the product will be delayed until April. Also new reports confirm that games are not among the planned downloads, squashing hopes of a portable virtual console.
IGN reports that the hardware itself is the cause for the delay. Apparently there are some issues with the microSD card adapter, which is being referred to as “save functionality” issue. Personally I’m thinking that means that content isn’t saving properly after being purchased, resulting in corrupted media, but that is just my educated guess.
There is a bright spot to this news, which can be obtained by visiting the DSvision site. The About page now shows a 2gb microSD card in the visual image. Previously only 512mb microSD cards were shown in conjunction with the device, so perhaps this image means that the DSvision adapter will be able to use cards with more space.
If AM3 and Nintendo are having problems with the adapter, perhaps they should confer with some other slot-1 companies. The makers of the R4, M3 Simply and CycloDS Evolution certainly didn’t seem to have any trouble creating a successful slot-1 microSD card reader.

Does it play roms?

Nope.
It will be able to play music, videos and display books and manga bought from the Dai Nippon and AM3 subscription service.
