If you’d been longing for a portable Disgaea, but missed out on Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness due to lack of a PSP, then the latest issue of Famitsu has some phenomenal news for you. The issue reveals that NIS is now working on Disgaea DS: Prince of the Demon World and the Red Moon, translation courtesy of NeoGAF forum user Tenbatsu. Not much else is revealed about the upcoming title aside from the system it will be on and the name, but that should still be enough to bring joy to many Disgaea fans.
Many may recall that earlier NIS held a “Disgaea Handheld Poll” online a while back. The results from the poll showed that 65.1% of the 13,330 total voters wanted a DS Disgaea, compared to a mere 33.5% seeking a PSP version. It is interesting that, despite the results, the PSP ended up with a Disgaea title before the DS. NIS now seems to be making up for that.
I’m just going to hypothesize that the new title is yet another remake of the original Disgaea. Even though nothing else is revealed other than the title, the title itself is very telling. There was a whole segment of the original Disgaea devoted to the Red Moon events. Also Laharl is a prince of a demon world. It could very well work. Of course there is also a chance that it could be an original Disgaea title for fans. Either way, it’s good news.
