DS bundle deals in the Toys ‘R Us 2009 Big Toy Book
The Toys ‘R Us Big Toy Book ad arrived in this past Sunday’s (November 1, 2009) paper, and while it is filled with a number of big and pertinent video game releases, there aren’t really that many items on sale at a reduced price. There is a nice coupon on the back that gives you a $10 Toys ‘R Us gift card if you make a purchase over $75. The ad also makes mention of the fact that you can now trade in games at Toys ‘R Us stores.
If you are looking for a good video game deal in the book, then you should be checking out the various DS bundles. Instead of purchasing items separately, you can pick from one of the DS lite or DSi bundle options offered to make things a bit more simple. Bear in mind that these prices, as well as all in the Big Toy Book, are only valid from November 1 to 26, 2009.
Let’s take a look at what’s featured in the ad:
- “R” DS lite Lego value bundle that includes a silver DS lite, a copy of either Star Wars: The Complete Saga or Lego Indiana Jones and either a Lego Star Wars or Lego Indiana Jones protective DS armor case for $146.97
- “R” Disney Fairies DS lite value bundle that includes a metallic rose DS lite, Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure and a DS Disney Fairies starter kit accessory pack for $154.97
- “R” iCarly DSi system value bundle that includes a blue DSi, the iCarly DS game and an iCarly system wallet for $186.97
- “R” Transformers DS lite value bundle that includes a blue DS lite, a copy of either Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen Autobots or Decepticons and a Transformers starter kit accessory pack for $159.97
Also, for the first time, you can check out the Toys ‘R Us Big Toy Book on either Facebook or on your iPhone. If you want to browse the ad on Facebook though, you must first become a fan. Only after you do will you be allowed to look through the Big Toy Book. Also, if you want to browse the ad on your iPhone, you must first download the Big Book Favorites app. Unfortunately, it’s pretty tricky to find. At 10:45pm on November 1, 2009, I tried searching for Toys ‘R Us and Big Toy Book on iTunes and couldn’t find the app. The closest I came was a free Geoffrey memory game app from Toys R Us.

It’s a great ad, looking for the lego bundle. I have driven to the Athens, GA toy-r-us store, where they had the hard case and the game “only” so they couldn’t sell the bundle which was advertised. So then I drove to the Buford, GA store. Here they had the DS Slver with the hard case, “but NO GAMES”. So they couldn’t honor the ad either. So now I have taken the time drive 90 miles and I’m back home empty handed. GREAT AD

@ Steven - Perhaps you should have called the store first, to see if they could honor the bundle? Or, perhaps try calling another local store to see if they will honor the deal.
I know Walmart and Best Buy sometimes do price matching if they have the products in stock. Maybe, if one of those stores is near you, you should try calling the store and asking the manager if they would price match the Toys R Us ad and sale?
