Dragon Age: Origins and Sims 3s PC releases get bumped back

by Jenni Lada on Feb 4, 2009 at 01:37 PM

Sims 3If you thought the news about the four delayed Atlus games was sad, the latest EA announcements concerning two anticipated PC games might just push you over the end. Remember how everyone thought we’d be getting The Sims 3 this month, and that Dragon Age: Origins would be out in the first few months of 2009. Well, brace yourself - neither game is going to meet the expected release dates.

Yup, delays again. Dragon Age: Origins for the PC is now going to come out at the end of 2009, just like the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions. It’s shaping up to be the spiritual successor to Baldur’s Gate, but gamers won’t be able to see that now until the end of the year.

As for The Sims 3, it’s delayed until June 2, 2009 worldwide. Originally, it was supposed to be released worldwide February 20, 2009. No reason for the delay has been given. Perhaps the delay is to try and have the PC game release at the same time as the Mac and mobile versions, which are expected this summer.

I’m disappointed too. Here I was, getting ready to back-up my Sims 2 stuff and then purge it from my laptop to make way for Sims 3. Oh well. At least there are a lot of other, awesome console and handheld games coming out in February.
